Salford City Council commissioned Trigger to develop a branding strategy to support their Destination Worsley campaign, aimed at boosting tourism in the area. Worsley, a historically significant part of Salford, is well known for its vibrant orange-hued canals, a result of iron ore deposits from its mining past. It is also home to rich green spaces and woodland, as well as being the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. The campaign needed a strong visual identity that celebrated Worsley’s unique heritage and natural beauty, while providing a clear and consistent brand presence across all promotional materials.
To capture the essence of Worsley, we developed a bold and distinctive logo. The large ‘W’ for Worsley was designed to represent tree trunks, with their reflection mirroring the orange waters of the canal. This simple yet powerful design visually tied together the area’s natural landscapes and industrial past, creating an instantly recognisable brand identity. As part of the project, we produced a comprehensive brand guidelines document to ensure the brand was used consistently across all materials. To support the launch of Destination Worsley, we designed and produced a range of branded materials, including pull-up banners, stationery, and a dedicated website. Additionally, we created an innovative fold-out map, designed to help visitors easily navigate Worsley’s key attractions and points of interest. The map provided a clear, user-friendly guide to encourage exploration of the area’s rich history and natural beauty.
The Destination Worsley brand successfully established a strong and unified identity, ensuring all promotional materials worked together to enhance tourism and awareness of the area. The logo’s visual storytelling, combined with clear branding guidelines and engaging marketing materials, helped position Worsley as a must-visit destination in Salford. The branding strategy gave stakeholders and local businesses the tools they needed to promote Worsley and attract new visitors.
