Essential Cuisine approached Trigger to modernise their existing website while retaining the strength of an established brand trusted across the foodservice industry. Over time the site had grown significantly, resulting in complex navigation and inconsistent page layouts that made it harder for users to quickly find the information they needed. The goal of the project was not a complete rebuild, but a strategic refresh improving user experience, modernising design and strengthening key journeys across products, sectors and brand storytelling. The refreshed site also needed to better support marketing activity, improve engagement and ensure long-term scalability.
We carried out a comprehensive redesign and restructuring programme across the website, focusing on usability while introducing a more contemporary visual style. The homepage was redesigned to improve user direction, reducing five sector routes into two clearer pathways for Public and Private sectors, each supported by newly created landing pages. Key homepage components were restyled to modernise the interface, including updated quick-link panels, refined typography across product carousels, improved calls-to-action and a redesigned footer structure to better support engagement and newsletter sign-ups.
Across the wider site, multiple pages were redesigned or rebuilt to strengthen storytelling and usability. New standalone pages were introduced, including a dedicated testimonials hub to reinforce credibility and improve search visibility. Core sections were completely reimagined with clearer content hierarchy, improved visuals and stronger calls-to-action linking users directly to product sampling and further resources. Navigation and content architecture were streamlined throughout the site, and redundant areas were retired to simplify the user experience.
Significant improvements were also made to the product experience. Product structures were refined to remove unnecessary layers where ranges contained single products, allowing users to reach information faster. Product pages were redesigned with improved layouts, wider content areas and clearer filtering, supported by updated grids, testimonials integration and enhanced visual consistency across desktop and mobile displays.
Alongside design improvements, the site received extensive CMS and functional upgrades. A new wholesalers page and editable map were introduced, advanced search functionality was implemented, and site-wide formatting was updated to make full use of modern screen sizes. Typography was standardised, improving readability and brand consistency. Behind the scenes, we completed essential maintenance and optimisation work, including data clean-up, cookie policy updates, improved newsletter data handling and full site-wide consistency checks.

The refreshed Essential Cuisine website delivers a significantly improved user experience while maintaining brand familiarity. Navigation is clearer, content is easier to access, and the site now better supports both commercial storytelling and product discovery. The modernised design creates a more confident digital presence aligned with Essential Cuisine’s position within the Solina group, while enhanced CMS flexibility allows the internal team to manage updates more efficiently moving forward. The website is now better equipped to support marketing and long-term growth, providing a scalable digital platform ready to evolve alongside the business.
